The efficacy and effects of saffron

The efficacy and effects of saffron

There are many common problems in life. When problems arise, they need to be solved in time so that the problems will not become serious. The same is true for the treatment of diseases. The choice of medicines must be correct. If you don’t know how to choose the medicine, you also need to consult the hospital. In this way, there will be no other problems when using it. What are the effects and functions of saffron?

Many people don’t know much about the effects and functions of saffron, so when choosing it, you should be careful not to use it casually, otherwise it will cause great harm to your health, and the method of use should also be regulated.

The efficacy and effects of saffron :

Benefits of Saffron

Promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, relieve depression and relieve knots. It is used to treat depression, chest tightness, vomiting blood, madness caused by typhoid fever, fear and confusion, amenorrhea, abdominal pain due to postpartum blood stasis, and swelling and pain due to falls.

1. "Yinshi Zhengyao": It is used to treat depression and suffocation. Eating it for a long time will make people happy.

2. "Pin Hui Jing Yao": It is mainly used to relieve depression, regulate blood, relax the chest and diaphragm, stimulate appetite, nourish the lower abdomen, improve complexion, and treat typhoid fever and madness after long-term use.

3. "Compendium of Materia Medica": It can invigorate blood circulation and treat palpitations.

Effects of Saffron

1. Effect on the uterus

The decoction has a stimulating effect on the isolated and situ uterus of mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs and cats. Small doses can cause tonic or rhythmic contractions of the uterus, while large doses can increase the tonicity and excitability of the uterus, enhance the automatic contraction rate, and even reach the level of spasm, making the pregnant uterus more sensitive. In the experiment on uterine fistula in rabbits at home, the stimulating effect was also observed, and the efficacy can last for 4 hours after one dose. The order of the intensity of the various extracts is: decoction > ethanol extract > volatile component > ether extract. Small doses can also have an inhibitory effect on the uterus, or an inhibitory effect followed by an excitatory effect. Especially when the ethanol extract is applied to the uterus of non-pregnant rabbits, inhibitory phenomena are often seen. The effect of stimulating the uterus can be partially blocked by ergotoxin ethanesulfonate (adrenergic blocker), but atropine cannot; therefore, it is believed that part of the effect on the uterus is a direct effect on uterine muscle cells, and part is related to adrenergic receptors.

2. Impact on the circulatory system

The decoction can lower the blood pressure of anesthetized dogs and cats and maintain it for a long time; it also has a stimulating effect on breathing. When blood pressure is lowered, the kidney volume shrinks, indicating that the renal blood vessels contract; it also has a contraction effect on the blood vessels of toads. It has a significant inhibitory effect on the isolated toad heart. Some people have studied it as a drug for stopping the heart during surgery and found that its aqueous extract can cause rapid and complete cardiac arrest in diastole on isolated toad hearts, rat hearts, and acute cat heart specimens, lasting for more than ten minutes and easily recovering; if used with acetylcholine, the arrest can be more rapid and complete. No fibrillation occurred during the resumption of heart beat, and the heart activity was evenly strengthened after the resumption of heart beat. However, chemical analysis showed that the components that inhibit the heart are related to potassium salts. This is worthy of attention because saffron contains a large amount of potassium salts, which can not only inhibit the heart and cause blood pressure reduction, but also have an excitatory effect on the tension and contraction of smooth muscles such as the small intestine, uterus, bronchi, and blood vessels. Therefore, future pharmacological research on saffron should first remove potassium salts.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of the effects and functions of saffron. When choosing it, we should also pay attention to its methods. It also has many aspects in treating diseases. The treatment methods of different diseases are also very different in the way they are used. This also needs attention.
