It is cold in nature, slightly bitter in taste, and harmful. It enters the liver and spleen meridians. It has the effects of eliminating lumps and swelling, unblocking blood vessels and relieving pain. It is traditionally used for rheumatism, numbness and paralysis, carbuncle, sore, and bruises.

Trauma, fracture, swelling and pain. This product is good at dissolving lumps and reducing swelling quickly, and is a top-grade product for treating injuries and relieving pain. For the treatment of bruises, fractures, swelling and pain, it can be mixed with ephedra, frankincense and myrrh, and divided into pills in equal parts, such as Jiufen Powder (In "Emergency Prescriptions"); it can also be used in the same way as pangolin, such as Maqian Powder (In "Saving the Bitter Sea" and Qinglong Pills (In "Wonderful Prescriptions for Surgery").

Carbuncle, sore throat. This product is bitter and harmful, can eliminate lumps and swellings, attack toxins and relieve pain. For the treatment of carbuncle and ulcer, it is usually applied externally and is effective with just one application. Heat pipes dissipate heat and eliminate blood stasis: This product is bitter, cold and harmful. Bitterness can descend and relieve constipation, vines are good at dispersing, and can clear away heat and detoxify when it is cold. It enters the liver and spleen meridians, has the function of dissipating heat and removing blood stasis, and is suitable for carbuncle, swelling and pain. It is mostly caused by exogenous wind, cold, six evils, overeating of rich and sweet food, internal accumulation of cold, dampness, fire toxins, or injury from outsiders, exposure to toxic gases, etc., which cause the accumulation of evil toxins, leading to disharmony between the Ying and Wei, blockage of the meridians, and stagnation of blood and qi. Symptoms: Partial skin swelling and discomfort, soft and headless, quickly forming lumps, red peeling of the outer skin, burning pain, increasing day by day, high swelling and hardness, pain like a chicken pecking, high fever that does not subside, headache and nausea, thick yellow tongue coating, and strong and rapid pulse. Use Strychnos nux vomica for treatment. The heat pipe dissipates heat and eliminates blood stasis. When the blood stasis is gone, the swelling will decrease and the pain will stop by itself.

Reduce swelling and relieve sore throat: This product is slightly cold and has the effect of quickly reducing swelling. It is used for sore throat, which is caused by the accumulation of evil toxins, qi deficiency and blood stasis, and obstruction of meridians, characterized by swelling and pain in the throat, or redness and itching of the throat. It is treated with Strychnos nux vomica. For example, "Medical Prescription Summary" says: "To treat dull pain in the throat, use it with Sophora flavescens (seedlings) and Aucklandia odorifera powder and blow it into the throat."

Eliminate lumps and resolve abdominal masses: "Dan Xi's Heart Method" said: "Qi cannot form lumps or aggregates. A lump is a tangible thing, formed by phlegm, food accumulation, and dead blood." Differentiate use: This product is different from white flower snake. Both can treat rheumatism entering the meridians, causing tightness, pain, ignorance, etc. But Strychnos nux vomica is good at relaxing the meridians, eliminating stagnation, removing wind and relieving pain. It is also used for bruises, stroke and hemiplegia, and can treat sore throat, carbuncle and swelling; and the white flower snake is good at opening bones and searching for wind, attacking poison and stopping convulsions, and can go inside the internal organs and reach the skin, reaching everywhere. Therefore, any wind toxins inside or outside the body that are blocked in the blood can only be eliminated by this medicine. It is an important medicine for stopping wind.
