[Source] Medicinal material source: The seeds of the plant scutellaria baicalensis of the Apocynaceae family.

【Original form】 Woody vine, up to 8m long. The whole plant has latex, only the young branches are sometimes covered with short soft hairs, and the rest are almost hairless. Leaves are opposite, oval or elliptical, 5-10cm long and 3-4cm wide; there are 5-7 lateral veins on each side. Inflorescence is racemose, 3-8cm long; flowers are 5-somere; calyx has glands on the inner surface or not; corolla is white, with soft hairs at the throat of the corolla tube; anthers are arrow-shaped; disk is deeply lobed into 5 parts, with lobes linear and longer than the ovary. The follicles are twin, forked, one long and one short, thin cylindrical, 8-15cm long, and covered with short soft hairs. Seeds linear, with hairs on top. The flowering period is from May to August, and the fruiting period is from August to December.
