Thieves tendon grass is a commonly used medicinal material in traditional Chinese medicine and is often used to treat various diseases. So today I will share with you some information about Thieves tendon grass.

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Primula sichuanensis, a plant of the Primulaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb. The whole plant is powder-free. Rhizome short and thick with many long roots. When flowering, there are no scales at the base of the leaf cluster; the petioles are spread out, usually slightly shorter than the leaves, sometimes nearly as long as the leaves; the leaves are elliptical to oblanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1.5-6cm wide, with sharp or blunt tips, sharp teeth on the edges, green above, gray-green below, slightly wide midrib, and slender, inconspicuous lateral veins. The flowers are 12-50cm high; with 1-2 whorls, rarely 3-4 whorls of umbels, each with 4-15 flowers; bracts lanceolate, 5-10mm long; calyx narrowly bell-shaped, 8-10mm long, split nearly to the middle. The lobes are oblong-lanceolate; the corolla is yellow, the corolla tube is 14-15mm long, with annular appendages at the throat, the lobes are oblong, usually reflexed, close to the corolla tube, 6-8mm long, 3-4mm wide, and entire; long-style flowers: the stamens are attached 6-7mm from the base of the corolla tube, and the style is nearly as long as the corolla tube mouth; short-style flowers: the stamens are attached to the upper part of the corolla tube, the anther tip is close to the tube mouth, and the style is as long as the middle of the corolla tube. Capsule cylindrical, up to 2 cm long. Flowering period is June.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in alpine wet grasslands, meadows and rhododendron bushes at an altitude of 3300-4500m.

【Properties】 Characteristic identification: The rhizome is short and thick with many long roots. The leaves are clustered; the leaves are mostly wrinkled, and when flattened, they are elliptical to lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, with sharp or blunt tips and sharp teeth on the edges. The leaves are yellow-green; the petioles are slightly shorter than the leaves, sometimes as long as the leaves. The scape has 1-2 whorls of umbels; bracts are lanceolate; calyx is narrowly bell-shaped; corolla is light yellow.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; slightly warm

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and reduce swelling. Mainly for swelling and pain caused by trauma

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: soak in wine, 9-15g.
