【Other name】 Fluorite, Fluorite

[Source] This product is a fluorite of the fluorite family, a fluoride mineral, mainly containing calcium fluoride (CaF2). After excavation, remove the debris.

【Properties】 This product is in the form of blocks or granules. It is in irregular block shape with edges and corners. Purple or green, uneven shades, with white streaks. Translucent to transparent, with glassy luster. There are often cracks on the surface. It is hard and brittle and easily broken. No odor, light taste.

[Identification] (1) Take 0.1 g of fine powder of this product, place it in a beaker, add 2 ml of hydrochloric acid and 5 ml of 4% boric acid solution, heat to a slight boil to dissolve. Take 1 drop of the solution, place it on a glass slide, add 1 drop of sulfuric acid solution (1→4), let it stand for a while, and observe it under a microscope. Needle-shaped crystals can be seen.

[Content Determination] Take about 0.1g of fine powder of this product, weigh it accurately, put it in a conical flask, add 2ml of hydrochloric acid and 5ml of 4% boric acid solution, heat to dissolve, add 300ml of water, 10ml of 10% triethanolamine solution and 1 drop of methyl red indicator, add 10% potassium hydroxide solution until the solution turns yellow, then add 15ml more and add about 30mg of calcein indicator, and titrate with disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid titrant (0.05mol/L) until the yellow-green fluorescence of the solution disappears and turns orange. Every 1ml of disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid titration solution (0.05mol/L) is equivalent to 3.904mg of calcium fluoride (CaF2).
