It also contains a large amount of organic acids (9-12% dry weight), of which dicarboxylic acids and tricarboxylic acids account for about 1/3, including citric acid (45.2%), malic acid (26.6%), fumaric acid (21.2%), etc. Autumn leaves contain palmitic acid and linolenic acid esters of lutein.

[Pharmacological action] It has an antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus, but is ineffective against Escherichia coli. It can also be used as an antimalarial drug. A 0.2% concentration of alcohol extract can inhibit Paramecium in vitro. Although the effect is not very significant, a small amount of alcohol extract can still have a synergistic effect with quinine.
