[Source] Medicinal material source: the roots and rhizomes of the Ranunculaceae plant Thalictrum yunnanensis.

[Original form] Yunnan Sichuan tiliaceus, perennial herb, 50-200cm tall. The stem is erect and branched, and the old branches are glabrous. Leaves are alternate; the leaf body is about 2 cm long and sheathed at the base; stipules are narrow, with irregular and shallowly lobed margins, and the basal leaves and leaves on the lower part of the stem wither when flowering; leaves are three to four times trifoliate or nearly pinnate; blades are about 18 cm long; leaflets are herbaceous, with short petioles, rhombic-obovate, broadly ovate or nearly round, 0.9-2 cm long, 0.7-2 cm wide, rounded at the apex with short tips, base broadly cuneate, rounded or truncate, 3 shallowly lobed, with sparsely obtuse teeth on the margin or sometimes entire, upper veins slightly sunken and glabrous, lower veins slightly raised, with dense or sparse short hairs along the veins. Inflorescence panicle, up to 30cm long, with sparse flowers; flowers bisexual, pedicels thin, 0.4-1.8cm long; sepals 4-5, petal-shaped, elliptic-ovate, about 5mm long, white, caducous early; petals absent; stamens about 10, 6-10mm long, filaments filiform, anthers narrowly oblong, 1.5-2mm long, with short tips; carpels 7-14, with short stalks, styles about 1.2mm long, stigmas born on the ventral side. Achenes are semi-obovate, flat, about 4mm long and 1.5mm wide, with narrow wings on the ventral and dorsal sutures, and persistent style about 1.5mm long. The flowering period is July-August, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on grassy hillsides, forest edges or in forests at an altitude of 2200-4000.

[Chemical composition] The rhizome contains hernandezine, protopine, berberine, jatrorrihizine and magnoflorine.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; cold

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; dries dampness. It is used for damp-heat dysentery, diarrhea, jaundice, red and swollen eyes.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-10g.
