The spadix is ​​axillary, 1.5-2m long, much-branched, with male flowers clustered at the upper part of the branches and female flowers scattered at the lower part; the spathe is fusiform, thickly woody, with the lowest one 60-100cm long or longer, falling off when old; the male flower has 3 sepals, scale-like, 3-4mm long; 3 petals, ovate-oblong, 1-1.5cm long; 6 stamens, 4mm long; female flowers: several bracteoles at the base; sepals are broadly round, about 2.5cm wide; petals are similar to sepals, but smaller. The nut is obovate or nearly spherical, 15-25cm long, with three slight edges at the tip, a thin exocarp, a thick and fibrous mesocarp, a hard woody endocarp, and three germination pores near the base. There is one seed with a thin seed coat, closely attached to the white, solid endosperm, which contains a cavity rich in liquid sweat; the embryo is basal. The flowering and fruiting period is mainly in autumn.
