[Source] The whole herb or root of a plant similar to Pyrrosia in the Polypodiaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb. The rhizome is creeping, densely covered with needle-like scales, yellowish brown, and the internode distance is 5 to 8 mm. The simple leaves are erect, lanceolate, 6-8 cm long, 5-8 mm wide, with a gradually pointed tip, sometimes swollen in the front and becoming oblanceolate, entire, base cuneate, semi-leathery and thick, green on the upper side, densely covered with stellate hairs when young, gradually falling off when old, and with many yellow glandular dots, which become concave dots after drying, with inconspicuous lateral veins, light green with light yellow on the underside, densely covered with stellate hairs, and thick and raised main veins; the petiole has nodes, with densely covered with scaly hairs below the nodes, and the nodes are very short. The spores are round, with 2-4 rows on each side of the main vein, and are yellowish brown.

[Habitat distribution] It grows on tree trunk bark, stone walls and in shady and moist places. Distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei and other places.

[Properties and flavors] Guizhou Folk Medicine: "Cool in nature, bitter in taste."

【Functions and indications】Anti-spasmodic, diuretic and hemostatic. Treats infantile convulsions and bleeding due to trauma.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, 5 cents; or soak in wine. For external use: Take the spore powder on the back of the leaves and sprinkle it externally.

[Additional prescription] ① To treat knife wounds: scrape the yellow powder on the back of the leaves of the flying startle grass and apply it to the wound to stop bleeding and heal the wound. (Guizhou Folk Medicine)
