[Source] Medicinal material source: young branches and sap of the Euphorbiaceae plant Euphorbia pulcherrima.

[Original form] Small wooden tree or shrub, 3-8cm high. The branches are slender and straight. The young branches are slender and straight, densely covered with soft hairs when young, and then glabrous. Leaves are alternate; petiole 3-6mm long; leaf blade is leathery, lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate or oblong, 6-16cm long, 2.5-5cm wide, with blunt teeth on the edge, glabrous on both sides. Most flowers are clustered in leaf axils; unisexual, dioecious; pedicel 2-3mm long; male flower 5 sepals, pubescent on the outside, 5 petals, elliptical, pubescent on both sides, sparser on the inside, 10 stamens, 2 whorls, 5 in the outer whorl alternate with the petals, reduced cylindrical ovary; female flower calyx is the same as male flower, ovary 2-chambered, spherical, glabrous, style 2, 2-divided. The drupe is spherical, about 5mm in diameter, rough, red when ripe, black when dry, with a fleshy exocarp; there are 2 seeds. Flowering and fruiting period is from March to September.
