[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Indigofera scabra.

[Original morphology] Indigofera sparsely flowered perennial herb with stem height of 50-100cm, or taller. Leaves are opposite, one large and one small, almost sessile; the larger leaves are elliptic-oblong to lanceolate, 5-15cm long, with a long pointed tip and a nearly rounded to cuneate base; the smaller leaves are ovate, up to 3cm long, with a gradually pointed tip and a nearly rounded base; both large and small leaves have serrations. Cymes, one of the founding branches is shorter or underdeveloped, and the inflorescence axis is zigzag; flowers are solitary and sparse; calyx is 5-lobed, the lobes are lanceolate, 6-9mm long, usually glabrous, or sparsely pubescent; corolla is lavender, about 3.5cm long, finely pubescent on the outside, with two rows of short pubescent on the inside, the rim of the crown is 5-lobed, the lobes are nearly equal or slightly 2-lipped; stamens are 4, didyna, and the base of the filaments is connected by a thin membrane; ovary is superior, 2-chambered, and each chamber has only 2 ovules. The capsule is nearly rod-shaped, about 1.3 cm long. Seeds 4, slightly hairy.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows under forests or in shady and wet places in valleys.

【Functions and indications】 Disperses blood stasis and reduces swelling; kills insects and relieves itching. Mainly used for swelling and pain caused by falls; scabies and itching

[Usage and Dosage] For external use: Take appropriate amount of fresh product and mash it for application; or mash the juice and apply it to the affected area.
