[Other names] Qingmazi (Collected Effective Prescriptions for Lactation), Chrysanthemum seeds (Shengji Zonglu), Kongmazi (Jiangsu Plant Medicinal Records), Mopanshuzi (Jiangxi Folk Herbal Medicine).

[Source] It is the seeds of Ramie, a plant of the Malvaceae family. Harvest in autumn when the fruits are ripe. Cut the above-ground part, dry it in the sun, remove the seeds, sieve out the peel and impurities, and store it in a dry place.

[Habitat distribution] Mainly produced in Sichuan, Henan, Jiangsu and Hubei. In addition, it is also produced in Anhui, Shanxi, Hebei, Hunan and other places.

[Properties] The dry seeds are triangular or ovate-shaped, with one end pointed, with a long diameter of 3.5-6 mm, a short diameter of 2.5-4.5 mm, and a thickness of 1.1-2 mm. The surface is dark brown or grayish brown with inconspicuous sparse short hairs. There is a linear hilum in the kidney-shaped depression, which is light brown. The seed coat is hard. After peeling off, you can see that the radicle is cylindrical, with a gradually pointed lower end, and the cotyledons are heart-shaped, with two pieces overlapping and then folded. Slight smell and light taste. The best ones are those with full grains and no impurities.
