"Compendium of Materia Medica in Southern Yunnan" records that Eclipta prostrata "strengthens teeth, blackens hair, and can wash nine types of hemorrhoids."

"Compendium of Materia Medica" points out that Eclipta prostrata "blackens hair and benefits kidney yin." "Bencao Shu" believes that Eclipta prostrata "can cure hematuria and stranguria caused by kidney deficiency."

In clinical practice, Eclipta prostrata is often used together with Ligustrum lucidum. Both Eclipta prostrata and Ligustrum lucidum have the functions of protecting the liver, detoxifying, and lowering transaminase. They can treat liver and kidney yin deficiency, insomnia, restlessness, tinnitus, dizziness, soreness of the waist and knees, and other symptoms.

Note: People with weak stomach, loose stools, and kidney yang deficiency should not take Eclipta prostrata.

1. Take this product, soak it in water, and rub its stems and leaves, which will turn dark green.

2. Surface view of the leaves of this variety: non-glandular hairs are mostly 3-celled, 260-700μm long, with slightly swollen cells at the base, longer cells in the middle, thickened walls, and obvious warty protrusions, and the apical cells are acute and short, nearly triangular. Stomata are indeterminate, with 3 to 4 accessory cells.

Take 1 g of the powder, add 20 ml of ethanol, soak for 2 hours, ultrasonically treat for 30 minutes, filter, evaporate the filtrate, add 1 ml of anhydrous ethanol to dissolve the residue, and use it as the test solution. Take another 1 g of Eclipta prostrata reference medicinal material and prepare a reference medicinal material solution in the same manner. According to the thin layer chromatography method (Appendix Ⅵ B), 4 μl of each of the above two solutions were taken and spotted on the same silica gel G thin layer plate, and n-hexane-ethyl acetate (9:1) was used as the developing solvent. The plate was developed, taken out, dried, and examined under ultraviolet light (365 nm).
