[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of the plant Glechoma longituba of the Melastomataceae family.

[Original form] Also known as: straight wood tip, screw wood, iron tree (Guangxi), sheep horn, sheep horn twist (Hainan). Shrub, 1.5-4m tall. The bark is gray and much branched; the branchlets are quadrangular and later become cylindrical. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 3-5cm long; leaf blade is leathery, elliptic to ovate-lanceolate, 2-5cm long, 1-3cm wide, with obtuse, rounded or slightly concave tip, broad cuneate base, densely covered with small protrusions on both sides, rough, dull, entire, and curled edges. Flowers bisexual, 4-merous; cymes, axillary; pedicels often with prickles at base; calyx shallowly cup-shaped, truncate at rim, with 4 pointed tips; petals purple or blue, broadly ovate, with small lobes on one side above; stamens 8, with a ring on the ridge of the anther loculus. The berry-like drupe is spherical, 6-7mm in diameter, densely covered with small wart-like protrusions, and has a ring-shaped persistent calyx rim at the tip. Flowering period is (3-)6-8, and fruiting period is (11-)1-3.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: hillsides, dense forests or bushes and waterside at an altitude of about 3000m.

【Functions and indications】Detoxification and swelling reduction. Mainly used for sores, carbuncle and swelling

【Usage and Dosage】 For external use: take appropriate amount, mash and apply, grind into powder and sprinkle or decoct in water for washing.
