[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Angelica sinensis, a plant of the Umbelliferae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 0.8-2m high. The root is conical, plump and slightly fragrant. The stem is cylindrical, 1-2.5cm in diameter, hollow, smooth and hairless, with fine grooves. The basal leaves and leaves on the lower part of the stem have long petioles and long ovate to cystic swollen leaf sheaths; the leaves are two to three times ternate, the terminal segments are lanceolate to ovate, acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, 2.5-8cm long, 1-4cm wide, with coarse serrations on the edges, dark green on the surface, grayish white on the back, and glabrous; the leaves on the upper part of the stem are simplified into only a broad, protruding, bladeless leaf sheath that embraces the stem. The compound umbel is terminal or lateral, with the terminal one 10-20cm in diameter; 15-30 rays; 2 or none involucral bracts, linear; many flowers in the umbel; many involucral bracts, linear; calyx teeth are not obvious; petals are white, obovate. The fruit is oblong, 1-1.2cm long and 0.4-0.7cm wide, with a prominent dorsal ridge, rounded and blunt, broad wing-shaped lateral ridges, extremely narrow grooves, 1 oil tube in the groove, 2-4 oil tubes on the commissure, and a concave endosperm ventral surface. The flowering period is July, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in river valleys, under forests, on the edge of forests, beside swamps and ponds, and in moist weeds at an altitude of 900-1100m.
