【Original form】 Evergreen vine, 5-10m long. With axillary tendrils; branches are slender, green, with inconspicuous stripes. Simple leaves are alternate, papery to thick papery; petiole 3-10cm long; leaf blade ovate, oblong ovate or triangular ovate, 8-20cm long, 4-15cm wide, apex acuminate, obtuse or apical, base varies greatly, slightly cordate, rounded, truncated or broadly cuneate, green above, pinkish green below; basal veins 3, rarely 5, lateral veins 2-4 pairs, raised on the back, reticular veins sparse. The flowers are bisexual and arranged in axillary dichotomous cymes, with a length of 6-18 cm. The branches and pedicels are slender, gradually thickening and growing after flowering. The peduncle is 4-9 cm long; the calyx tube is 0.5-0.8 mm long, with 4-5 lobes; the corolla is white. The teeth are ovate-triangular, with 5 stamens opposite the corolla lobes, extremely short filaments, 2-chambered anthers, and longitudinal fissures; the ovary is buried in the disk, with 3 carpels and 1 chamber; the style is extremely short, conical, and has 3 shallow cracks at the top. The drupe is surrounded by a calyx that is enlarged into a pitcher shape when ripe. When the fruit is ripe, the calyx tube surrounding the fruit separates from the fruit and splits into 3-5 irregular, outward-curved petals; the fruit pedicel is 1.5-3cm long; there is one blue-purple seed. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is May-July.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in low hills or mountainous areas at an altitude of 280-1500m, along streams, in valleys, dense or sparse forests, on the edge of forests or in thickets.
