[Additional prescription] ① Treat cold and headache: three grams of Guangfenglun, two slices of ginger, and two green onions. Take it in decoction, one dose per day. (Jiangxi Herbal Medicine)

[Clinical application] Treatment of bacillary dysentery and enteritis: Take 18 pounds of Scutellaria baicalensis and 7 pounds of Herba Agrimoniae, crush them, pass through a 120-mesh sieve, and get 8 pounds of fine powder. Mix the remaining coarse powder with 22 pounds of Scutellaria baicalensis and boil in water twice. Combine the two filtrates and concentrate them to a certain degree, then mix in 8 pounds of fine powder. Dry and grind into powder, pass through a 120-mesh sieve, and put into No. 0 capsules. Each capsule is equivalent to 2 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis and 0.35 grams of Herba Agrimoniae. Take 4 to 5 capsules orally 4 times a day. 214 cases of acute and chronic bacillary dysentery and enteritis were treated, and the efficacy criteria were as follows: 1. Cured: clinical symptoms disappeared, microscopic examination was negative, and there was no recurrence within one month; 2. Markedly effective: clinical symptoms improved significantly, but the course of the disease was long, and there were recurrences during follow-up observation; 3. Improved: symptoms were relieved, the number of bowel movements decreased, and stool microscopy showed improvement; 4. Ineffective: no obvious changes after taking the medicine and other drugs were used for treatment. Results: Among 54 cases of acute bacillary dysentery, 51 were cured and 3 were significantly effective; among 14 cases of chronic bacillary dysentery, 6 were cured, 2 were significantly effective, 3 were improved, and 3 were ineffective; among 128 cases of acute enteritis, 121 were cured, 6 were significantly effective, and 1 was improved; among 18 cases of chronic enteritis, 12 were cured, 3 were significantly effective, 1 was improved, and 2 were ineffective. The average recovery time is 6 to 7 days. Preliminary observations show that the efficacy seems to be higher than that of commonly used drugs such as berberine and furazolidone; especially for acute bacillary dysentery and enteritis, the efficacy is more obvious. If a decoction is used, symptoms seem to be controlled faster than with capsules. During the treatment, there were no other adverse reactions except constipation in a few cases due to excessive dosage.
