[Original form] Perennial herb, 30 to 50 cm high. The roots are fleshy, slender and conical, solitary, with effective lateral roots, brown-yellow in color. The stem is cylindrical, with many white fine straight grooves, hollow, and the young parts are covered with short soft hairs. The basal leaves are cordate or ovate-cordate, 2.5-4 cm long, 2-3.5 cm wide, with small serrations on the edges; the petioles are 3-7 cm long; the stem leaves are tripartite compound leaves, the leaflets are ovate-cordate, becoming smaller as they go up, and are 3-5 deeply lobed, with narrow and long lobes with irregular sharp teeth; the uppermost ones have only leaf sheaths. The compound umbels are terminal and axillary, with 10 to 16 pedicels, all sparsely pubescent; the involucral bracts are absent or 1 to 2, small; the bracteoles are 2 to 3, linear. Sepals are not obvious; corolla is white, 5-petaled, suddenly narrowed at the apex and folded inward; stamens are 5, caducous early; ovary is inferior, with 2 styles. The double-hanging fruit is oblate-conical, 1.5 mm long and 2 mm wide, with densely covered tumor-like protrusions on the surface. Flowering period is from June to November.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on grass slopes or sparse shrubs, oak forests and pine forests. Distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou and other places. It is produced in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou and other places.

[Properties] The dry roots are conical, about 5 to 10 cm long and 1 to 2 cm in diameter. Slightly curved, occasionally divergent. [Functions and indications] It can promote the circulation of qi and warm the middle, dispel wind and dampness, promote blood circulation and reduce swelling. Treat stomachache, cold pain in the chest and abdomen, rheumatic numbness, pain in the tendons and bones, bruises, swelling, and scrofula.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 2 to 5 qian; grind into powder or soak in wine. For external use: mash and apply.

[Additional prescription] ① Treating abdominal pain caused by cold and yin: one qian of Saoyanggu. Swallow with boiled water or wine.
