The efficacy and function of taro seven

Only when we understand the main ingredients of any medicinal material can we better exert its efficacy and function. Here I recommend a very popular Chinese medicinal material, Yuerqi.

[Alias] Jade Seven, Buddha's Hand Seven, a bead on the top of the head (Economic Flora of China), Yellow Flower Panax Notoginseng (Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Resources List), Fish Seven, Lion Seven (Shaanxi Chinese Herbal Medicine), Corpse Seven (Shaanxi Herbal Medicine).

[Source] It is the rhizome of the Liliaceae plants Trillium or Trillium alba . Dig up in summer and autumn, cut off the stems, leaves and fibrous roots, wash and dry.

【Original form】 ① Trillium

[Habitat distribution] Mainly produced in Shaanxi and other places.

[Properties] The dried rhizome is cylindrical, fleshy, 1 to 2 cm in diameter, dark brown on the surface, without obvious segments, with brown membranous scales and residual stem base on the upper end, and sunken root marks on the lower end. The roots are numerous, thin and columnar, with annular horizontal stripes on the surface.

[Chemical composition] Trillium contains steroidal saponins trillium glycoside and trillium diglucoside, which are the glucoside and diglucoside of diosgenin respectively. It also contains the insect metamorphosed steroids cycloasterone and ecdysterone.

[Pharmacological action] Antihypertensive effect: The decoction and alcohol extract of Trillium have acute antihypertensive effect on anesthetized cats and rabbits. When administered by intraduodenal or intraperitoneal injection, most cats experience a significant reduction in blood pressure at 1 to 2 grams per kilogram. It seems to have a preventive effect on DOCA-induced experimental hypertension in rats. Preliminary analysis shows that its antihypertensive mechanism may be the inhibition of the cerebral vasomotor center.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet and spicy, warm.

【Functions and indications】Dispel wind, soothe the liver, promote blood circulation and stop bleeding. Treat high blood pressure, dizziness, headache, fractures, pain in the waist and legs, and bleeding from trauma.
