[Original form] Feather-calyx tree, shrub, 1-3m high. Many branches. Stems and branches densely woolly. Leaves are opposite or in whorls of 3 leaves; petiole is 0.8-2.5cm long and densely pubescent; leaf blade is oblong-elliptic, 10-20cm long, 3-7cm wide, with acuminate tip, broad cuneate or nearly circular base, with small crenulate serrations on the edge, pubescent above, pubescent below. The panicle is terminal and composed of spikes, usually 10-15cm long, densely covered with pubescent or woolly hairs. The spike is 4-7cm long and supported by involucral bracts. The bracteoles are linear, about 1mm long, white in color, about 2mm long, and male and bisexual flowers are dioecious; female flowers; calyx is bell-shaped, about 1.5mm long, with 5 calyx teeth, covered with feathers; corolla is small, the corolla tube is almost as long as or slightly longer than the calyx, covered with slightly soft hairs on the outside, the upper lip is slightly emarginate at the tip, the lower lip is 3-lobed, and the middle lobe is slightly larger; there are 4 stamens, 4 rudimentary ovaries containing 4 lobes, with pubescent hairs at the tip, the style extends out to 1 times the length of the corolla, and the stigma is 2-lobed. Bisexual flowers: calyx is tiny, about 0.6mm long, with 5 calyx teeth and feathers; corolla is about 3mm long, upper lip slightly emarginate at tip, lower lip 3-lobed, middle lobe is larger, ovate-oblong, stamens 4, well developed, front pair slightly longer, protruding; ovary 4-lobed, style slightly protruding, stigma 2-lobed. The nutlets are obovate, about 1 mm long, yellowish brown, and pubescent at the tip. The flowering period is from January to March, and the fruiting period is from March to April.
