[Source] Medicinal material source: the roots and leaves of Callicarpa yunnanensis of the Verbenaceae family.

[Original form] Callicarpa yunnanensis, a tree, 12-18m high. The twigs are slightly quadrangular, and are covered with gray-brown branched pubescence and stellate hairs along with the petioles, main veins of the leaves and inflorescences. Simple leaves are opposite; petioles are 1.5-3cm long and sturdy; leaf blades are papery, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, 12-27cm long, 7-13cm wide, with short acuminate or obtuse apex, cuneate or broad cuneate base, entire margin, branched soft hairs and stellate hairs on the back, densely covered with reddish-brown glandular dots on both sides; 10-12 pairs of lateral veins. The inflorescence is axillary, thick, arranged in hemispherical corymbs, 8-13cm wide, 6-7 times branched, with a thick peduncle, 4-5cm long; the bracts are small and linear; the calyx is cup-shaped, about 0.8mm long, 4-lobed at the apex, and the lobes are obtuse; there are 4 stamens, and the filaments are about twice as long as the corolla; the ovary has fine hairs and brown-red glandular dots. The fruit is berry-like, spherical, about 3mm in diameter, and purple-red when ripe. Flowering and fruiting period is from July to December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse woods by the river or under forests in valleys at an altitude of 530-560m.

【Functions and indications】Cooling blood and stopping bleeding. Mainly used for vomiting blood, blood in stool, epistaxis, metrorrhagia, and bleeding due to trauma

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g. For external use: appropriate amount, grind into powder and sprinkle.
