【Original form】 A large vine 2-4m tall. The upper part of the twigs is square and grooved, and the lower part is cylindrical, covered with rusty soft hairs and scales, which gradually fall off with age. Leaves are opposite or nearly opposite; petiole (3-)7-12mm long, scaled and pubescent; leaf blade elliptic, oblong or ovate-elliptic, rarely oblanceolate or obovate, (4-)7-15(-18)cm long, 3-7cm wide, apex short-pointed or acute, rarely caudate-acuminate, base obtuse or cuneate, rarely wavy, pubescent on both sides, gradually falling off with age (veins still pubescent), with white and orange-yellow scales, especially dense on the dorsal surface, with prominent reticulate veins. The inflorescence is axillary, often opposite, 3-8 (-10) cm long, with no flowers in the lower 1/3, sometimes gathered at the top of the branches to form a panicle; the flowers are dense, yellow-white, 4-numbered, sessile, densely covered with rust-colored shield-shaped scales, up to 1 cm long; the bracts are linear, 4 mm long; the calyx tube is funnel-shaped, the same length as the bracts, densely covered with rust-colored scales and fine hairs on the outside, and with a rust-colored long stiff hair ring slightly higher than the calyx teeth on the inside. The calyx teeth are triangular, acute, and erect, and the calyx tube is about 4.5 mm long; the petals are obovate, with a rounded or slightly concave tip, longer than the calyx teeth, about 3 mm long; there are 8 stamens, extending out; the ovary is nearly cylindrical, about half the length of the calyx tube, the style is 7 mm long, glabrous, and there are 2 (-3) ovules. The fruit has 4 wings, is nearly spherical, 2.2-3.5cm long and 2.5-3.9cm wide; the wings are papery, dark brown, with entire or slightly toothed edges and covered with rusty scales; there is 1 seed, ovate, with 4 longitudinal grooves. The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from July to December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in valleys, riversides or sparse forests at an altitude of 500-1600m, rarely up to 2000m.
