[Source] Ulmus pumila L., a plant of the genus Ulmus in the family Ulmaceae, is used as medicine with its fruit (elm seeds), bark, leaves and roots . Bark: peel off the bark and dry it, or peel off the bark in summer and autumn, remove the rough skin, dry it in the sun or use it fresh. Leaves, picked in summer and autumn, sun-dried or used fresh. The root bark is harvested in autumn.

[Nature and flavor] Ulmus pumila: slightly spicy, neutral.

【Functions and indications】 Ulmus pumila: calms the mind and strengthens the spleen. Used for neurasthenia, insomnia, loss of appetite, and leucorrhea.

[Usage and Dosage] Ulmus pumila: 1-3 qian; bark and leaves: 3-5 qian. For bone setting, mix endothelial wine with a bag and apply it to the affected area. For hemostasis, grind the endothelial into powder and sprinkle it on the affected area.

【Remarks】 (1) The following plants of the same genus are used as medicine in different regions. Ulmus parvifolia Jacq. (mosquito palm tree, chicken knot, small-leaved elm, autumn elm) ; Ulmus pumila L. var. pilosa Rehd. ( hairy white elm, cotton palm tree); Ulmus lanceaefolia Roxb . (evergreen elm, lanceolate elm).
