[Original form] Yunnan Philadelphus is a deciduous shrub, 2-5m tall. Branchlets purple, nearly glabrous; bark brown, falling off. Leaves are opposite; petiole is about 9mm long and covered with long soft hairs; leaf blade is ovate to narrowly ovate, 3-9cm long, 1-6cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, rounded at the base, serrated at the edge, nearly glabrous on the upper side, densely covered with long soft hairs on the lower side. The inflorescence is racemose or corymbose, about 11cm long, with 7-11 flowers; the pedicel is 5-6cm long, sparsely pubescent; the calyx tube is about 3mm long, sparsely pubescent or white powdery, with 4 lobes, purple-green, nearly ovate, about 5mm long, about 4mm wide, acuminate at the apex, with more or less pubescent edges and both sides; the petals are white, rhombus-shaped and broadly elliptic, about 1cm long, about 9cm wide, and slightly emarginate at the apex; the stamens are numerous, 4-6mm long; the ovary is semi-inferior, the style is 3-5mm long, only 2-lobed at the upper end, or fused near the stigma, with 4 stigmas, 1-3mm long. Capsule, 4-valved. Seeds small, numerous. Flowering and fruiting period is from May to September.
