Odd-pinnate compound leaves, 5-12cm long; 5-7 leaflets, rarely 3; short petiolate or nearly sessile; leaves papery, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, 2.5-5cm long, 1.5-2.5cm wide, acuminate at apex, rounded, oblique base, serrated margin, sparsely pubescent on both sides, denser along the midrib, with small hooked spines along the midrib below; stipules linear. Flowers are in 3 or more umbels, rarely solitary; white, 1-2 cm in diameter; calyx lobes have glandular hairs and short soft hairs on the outside, densely covered with short soft hairs on the inside, and reflexed when fruiting; petals are elliptical and clawed. The aggregate fruit is oblong, 1-1.5 cm long, and orange-red. The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from July to August.
