[Source] It is the root and leaves of radish , a plant of the cruciferous family. Harvest in winter or early spring. Air dry or sun dry.

[Properties] The dried root leaves have spiral, wrinkled long petioles, the pinnate lobes are curled and contracted, usually bent into a ball, and are yellow-green in color; the texture is dry and crisp, easy to break, and has an aroma. The best ones are dry, light, yellow-green, fragrant and not moldy.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, neutral.

【Meridian】 ① "Southern Yunnan Materia Medica": "enters the spleen and stomach meridians."

【Functions and indications】Digestion and regulating Qi. It is used to treat chest fullness and hiccups, indigestion, diarrhea, sore throat, breast swelling and milk obstruction in women.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3 to 5 qian; or made into powder, or mashed into juice if fresh.

【Note】 "New Reference for the Second Tablet": "It is forbidden for people with weak Qi and blood to use it."

[Additional prescription] ① To treat initial dysentery: dry radish seedlings and leaves in the shade and use them according to the red or white color. The red ones should be taken with granulated sugar, and the white ones should be taken with icing sugar. (《本经逢源》)
