[Original form] Kudzu is a perennial twining vine that can grow more than 10 meters long. The rhizome is slender, horizontal, yellow-brown or dark brown, and branched. The twigs are green with fine longitudinal lines. Leaves are alternate; reniform or ovate, with 3-7 shallow lobes on the edge that are nearly triangular, 5-15cm long and wide, pointed at the apex, cordate or truncate at the base, green above, pale below, with 5-7 palmate veins; petiole is shield-shaped, 6-15cm long. Axillary short panicles, peduncle 3-7cm long; flowers small, yellow-green, with bracteoles; 10-20 stamens; female flower carpels 3, separate. The drupe is oblate, 8-10mm in diameter, black-purple when ripe, with a hard, kidney-shaped, oblate endocarp and carved ring-shaped protrusions. The flowering period is from May to June, and the fruiting period is from July to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on the edge of hillside forests, in thickets, beside fields, on roadsides and gravel beaches, or climbing on rocks.
