[Original morphology] Woody vine, twigs nearly glabrous. The leaves are leathery and long-petiolated; the leaf blades are rounded and reniform, with a heart-shaped tip and base, 7-10 cm long and 8-12 cm wide, with two shallow fissures at the top, which extend to about 1/6 of the leaf blade, with a small spike at the base of the fissure, sparsely covered with reddish-brown soft hairs on the underside, 9 main veins, and 1-2 tendrils. Flowers bloom at the top of branches in summer, with dozens of flowers densely packed into umbels. The pedicels are hairy and about 1.7 cm long. The calyx tube is narrow and long, cylindrical, about 2.5 cm long. The corolla is white, with 5 petals, elliptical-spoon-shaped or nearly round, 1.1 cm long, rounded at the tip, with short claws at the base, wrinkled edges, and soft hairs on the midline on the outside. There are 10 stamens, 3 of which are fertile and nearly as long as the petals. The ovary has a short stalk. The pods are ribbon-shaped, flat, up to 22 cm long, with wavy edges, dense reticulate veins, and no hair. More than 30 seeds.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in ravines, slopes, fields and roadsides. Distributed in Guizhou, Yunnan and other provinces.

【Functions and indications】Nourishes the kidney and strengthens the essence, relieves cough and stops bleeding. Root: nocturnal emission, enuresis, cough, metrorrhagia. Leaves: Rectal prolapse, uterine prolapse.

[Usage and Dosage] 0.5-1 liang, decocted in water or stewed with sweet wine and pork; 3 qian of leaves, or appropriate amount for external use, grind into powder, mix with oil and apply to the affected area.
