[Habitat distribution] Grown in plains, hilly areas, mountains and sparse forests. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Taiwan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Sichuan and other places.

[Chemical composition] The bark contains starch, mucilage, tannin, stigmasterol and other phytosterols; 22.3% cellulose, 10.56% hemicellulose, 25.17% lignin, 8.0% pectin and 7.75% oil.

【Functions and indications】Diuresis, relieving stranguria, and eliminating carbuncle.

[Additional prescription] ① For treating breast abscess: 2 to 3 liang of white bark of elm root. Decoction in water, add sugar to the residue and mash it, then apply to the affected area. (Commonly used herbal medicines among Zhejiang folks)
