【English name】OLEUM RHODODENDRI DAURICI

[Source] This product is a volatile oil obtained by steam distillation of the dried leaves of Rhododendron dauricum L. , a plant of the Ericaceae family.

[Properties] This product is a clear liquid with a pale yellow-green to yellow-brown color; it has a strong irritating aroma and a cool and spicy taste. When cooled to below -10°C, crystals will precipitate. This product can be mixed with methanol, ethanol, acetone, chloroform or ether, and is slightly soluble in water. The relative density should be 0.935~0.950 (Appendix VIIA). The refractive index should be 1.500-1.520 (Appendix VIIF).

[Identification] Take 0.1 ml of this product, add 0.5 ml of ethanol, shake well, add 2 drops of 1% vanillin sulfuric acid solution, shake, and it will turn purple-red to dark purple-red.

【Functions and indications】Relieve cough and eliminate phlegm. Used for acute and chronic bronchitis.

[Usage and Dosage] Oral administration, 0.05-0.1g at a time, 2-3 times a day.
