Golden lotus hurts the kidneys

Golden lotus hurts the kidneys

The plant nasturtium can be used as a Chinese medicinal material after being dried in the sun. In fact, nasturtium is found in many prescriptions. Especially when you have a sore throat, you can use nasturtium to clear away heat and detoxify. It can also be used to treat some acute inflammatory diseases. It can treat acute otitis media and acute conjunctivitis, and the effect is very quick.

Additional prescription

①Treatment of chronic tonsillitis: one qian of golden lotus. Brew with boiling water, drink as tea and gargle regularly. If it is an acute condition, double the dosage, or add an equal amount of Commelina. (Hebei Traditional Chinese Medicine Handbook)

②Treat acute otitis media, acute tympanitis, acute conjunctivitis, and acute lymphangitis: 3 grams each of nasturtium and chrysanthemum, and 1 gram of raw licorice. Decoction in water. (Hebei Traditional Chinese Medicine Handbook)

Clinical Application

Treatment of respiratory tract inflammation: Make the nasturtium into tablets, each tablet contains 1.5 grams of dry nasturtium, take 3 times a day, 3 to 4 tablets each time; or make it into injections, each vial is 2 ml, equivalent to 2 grams of nasturtium, injected intramuscularly, 1 to 2 times a day, 1 vial each time. A total of 536 cases of upper respiratory tract infection, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, acute and chronic tracheitis and other inflammations were treated, and the results were remarkable (symptoms disappeared, recovered or basically recovered) in 329 cases, accounting for 61.3%; effective (symptoms alleviated, condition improved) in 135 cases, accounting for 25%; and ineffective in 72 cases. Among them, it is more effective for acute and chronic tonsillitis, pharyngitis and upper respiratory tract infection, but less effective for chronic tracheitis. The efficacy of tablets seems to be higher than that of injections, which may be related to the dosage.

Chemical composition

Nasturtium contains alkaloids and flavonoids. The flowers contain veratric acid, orientin, vitexin, veratramide, and palmitic acid.

Pharmacological Action

The extract obtained by extracting Nasturtium with acid water, alkalizing it and then re-extracting it with chloroform has inhibitory effects on Gram-positive cocci and Gram-negative bacilli, and its antibacterial effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa is particularly obvious. When mice were infected with lethal doses of Pneumococcus or Staphylococcus aureus, no protective effect was observed after treatment with 0.5 and 0.2 ml of 1:2 concentration of golden lotus injection. However, it was clinically used in 226 cases of tonsillitis, pharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, etc., with an effective rate of 92.7%, and it also had a certain effect on urinary tract infections. Acute experiments on mice and subacute experiments on rabbits showed that the injection solution had very low toxicity. Only some animals had obvious irritation reactions at the injection site. There was no obvious effect on liver and kidney function and blood count. Pathological examination of the animal's internal organs also showed no obvious changes.
