[Source] Medicinal material source: lateral roots and fibrous roots of Acer pubescens, a plant of the Acer pubescens family.

[Original form] Deciduous small tree, rarely shrub, 5-10m high. The bark is dark brown and smooth, and the twigs are nearly cylindrical; the branches of the current year have light yellow hairs and short soft hairs, while the branches of the previous year are hairless. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 2.5-4cm long, with yellow-brown micropubescence; leaves are papery, nearly round or broadly ovate, 12-14cm long, 7-9cm wide, with long acuminate tips, cordate bases, and asymmetrical on both sides. Entire margin, veins pubescent above when young, yellow-brown filamentous tomentose beneath; 3-5 main veins, 6-7 pairs of lateral veins. The cyme has 5-7 flowers, the peduncle is 3-5cm long, and the pedicel is 5-8mm long; the calyx is funnel-shaped, often split into sharp points, with 6-8 calyx teeth; the petals are 6-8, linear, glued at the base, and the upper part is reversed when flowering, with light yellow short soft hairs on the outside, white at first, and then light common color; 6-8 stamens; the disk is nearly spherical; the ovary is 2-chambered, and the stigma is nearly spherical. The drupe is elliptical or oblong-elliptical, 1.2-1.5cm long, 8mm in diameter, black when ripe, with persistent calyx teeth at the tip. The flowering period is May-June, and the fruiting period is September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: sparse forests or roadsides at low altitudes.

[Chemical composition] Two kinds of bioalkalis, ankorine and d1-anabasine, were isolated from the dried roots, stems and branches of Acer pubescens.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; warm; toxic

【Functions and indications】 Relaxes muscles and promotes blood circulation; disperses blood stasis and relieves pain. Mainly used for bruises and swellings; fractures

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 5-10g. For external use: take appropriate amount, crush the fresh product and apply; or grind it into powder and apply.
