[Original morphology] Tree, 8-18 meters high; glabrous, or young branches slightly hairy. The leaves are leathery, ovate-elliptical to oblong, 10 to 12 cm long and 2.5 to 5 cm wide; the petiole is 1.4 to 1.8 cm long. The flowers are white, solitary in axillary or terminal in short racemes; the pedicels are 1.2 to 1 cm long, usually erect; there are 5 sepals with fine hairs on the edges; there are 5 petals, obovate; there are many stamens; the base of the ovary is densely covered with fine hairs. The capsule is nearly spherical, about 1.5 cm in diameter, 5-lobed, and the pericarp is woody. Flowering period is May.

[Habitat distribution] Growing in mountain mixed woods. Distributed in Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Taiwan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other places.
