The basal leaves are petiolate, about 3 cm long, densely covered with white long hairs; the leaf blades are oblong to linear-lanceolate, 2.5-3 cm long, deeply pinnately lobed to completely lobed, with notched spines on the lobes and white calluses on the tooth tips; the stem leaves are generally 4 in whorls, with short petioles or almost sessile, and the leaf blades are wider and shorter than the basal leaves. Inflorescence racemose, often dense; bracts leaf-like, with white long hairs; calyx spherical ovoid, membranous, often curved red, densely covered with long soft hairs on the outside, deeply cracked in the front, and one piece in the back is mostly independent, smaller, and entire; corolla purple-red, about 1.3cm long, the tube is bent forward at a true angle about 3mm near the base, extending from the calyx fissure, the lower lip is about the same length as the helmet or slightly longer, with very obvious red veins on the lobes, the helmet is slightly sickle-shaped, about 5mm long, and the forehead is round; the stamens are separated, and the front pair of filaments is hairy; the style is slightly protruding. The nodes should be varied in shape and size, more or less lanceolate, 1-1.5cm long. The seeds are black, semicircular, and have fine longitudinal lines. Flowering period is July-August.
