The occurrence of tolerance is generally believed to be due to a decrease in the sensitivity of the central nervous system. There is generally no withdrawal phenomenon when quitting. In addition to mental symptoms such as delirium tremens and intellectual impairment, common symptoms include chronic gastritis, degeneration of the liver, heart, and kidneys, cirrhosis, multiple neuritis, and optic neuritis. The incidence rate is also high. Alcoholics often use alcohol as their main source of energy and pay little attention to their diet. As a result, they suffer from malnutrition and lack of vitamins, especially thiamine and niacin, which are important factors that contribute to mental and organic disorders.
