Petiole 5-11 (-18) mm long, densely strigosus; leaf blade papery, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, rarely ovate, apex acuminate, base obtuse or nearly rounded, 6-10 cm long, 1.8-3.4 cm wide, entire or with fine, inconspicuous serrations, ciliate, both sides strigosus, 5-veined, basal veins concave on leaf surface, glabrous on veins, lateral veins inconspicuous, basal veins and lateral veins obvious on dorsal surface, raised, only hairy on veins. The inflorescence is corymbose, born at the top of the branchlets, nearly capitate or conical, up to 7cm long; the bracts are broadly ovate, 8-10mm long, with spiny hair-like cilia, and the back is covered with rough hairs; the pedicel is very short and covered with rough hairs; the calyx is about 2cm long, with spiny comb-like hairs and a few stalked stellate hairs, the hairs are often flat and appressed; the lobes are broadly lanceolate or narrowly triangular, with long acuminate tips, about 8mm long, and the back is covered with rough hairs and sparse ciliates; the petals are purple-red or pink, ovate, with acute tips, 1-1.3cm long, and entire; the stamens are often biased to one side, the filaments are shorter than the anthers, the anther tip has a beak, the beak is about 1/3 of the length of the anther, the base of the connective is swollen, and the back is short-spurred; the ovary is ovate, with a circle of bristles at the top, and the rest are covered with rough hairs. Capsule ovate, 4 longitudinally cracked, about 1cm long, 5mm in diameter; with setae at the tip, the rest of the body covered with rough hairs; persistent calyx altar-shaped, 1.2-1.5cm long, truncate at the tip, with longitudinal ribs, constricted into a neck near the top, the hairs often fall off, with upward flat, prickly comb-like hairs below the middle. The flowering period is August-September, and the fruiting period is September-October.
