[Original form] Grassroots cyperus is a perennial herb with a fragrance. The rhizome is slender. The culm is 50-60cm tall, with 3-4 nodes, and the upper part is exposed. The leaf sheath is glabrous and longer than the internodes; the ligule is transparent and membranous, 2-5mm long, and erode at the tip; the leaf blade is needle-shaped, thick, and covered with fine hairs on the surface, up to 5cm long and about 7mm wide, and can be up to 40cm long on the branches. The panicle is about 10 cm long, ovate or pyramidal; the spikelets are light yellow-brown, shiny, about 5 mm long, containing 3 florets, the lower 2 are male, and the terminal ones are bisexual; the spikelet axis is disjointed from the glumes, but does not break between the florets, and the 3 florets fall off at the same time; the glumes are almost equal in length, membranous, broadly ovate, pointed at the apex, with 1-3 veins; the male florets contain 3 male blue, the lemma is slightly shorter than the glumes, and the upper part is finely hairy; the bisexual florets contain 2 stamens, the lemma is about 3.5 mm long, and the upper part is shortly hairy. Flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in valley grass or forest edge at an altitude of 2500-3000m.

【Functions and indications】 Cools blood and stops bleeding; clears heat and promotes diuresis. Mainly used for vomiting blood; hematuria; edema caused by acute and chronic nephritis; hot stranguria
