Zombie pupa is a commonly used medicinal material in traditional Chinese medicine and is often used to treat various diseases. So today I will share with you some information about Zombie pupa.

[Source] It is a product made from silkworm pupae fermented with Beauveria bassiana.

[Preparation method] Take Beauveria bassiana and culture it on a slant at 25-28℃ for 10-12 days. Then use cocoon cooking liquid as liquid to expand the culture. Oscillate on a shaker for about 36 hours until the bacterial liquid becomes uniformly turbid, and then you can inoculate pupae.

【Properties】 It is in irregular block shape, with white or yellowish white surface. It is light, crisp, and easy to break, with a moldy smell and a unique fishy odor.

[Chemical composition] See the entries for "White Bombyx Batryticatus" and "Silkworm Pupa".

【Pharmacological action】 ① Anticonvulsant

[Toxicity] When mice were given 2 mg/g body weight of pupae for 22 days, no mortality or pathological phenomena occurred, and the dissected liver, spleen, and kidney showed no difference from those in the control group.

[Functions and indications] Reduce fever, relieve cough, resolve phlegm, calm nerves, reduce swelling, and regulate nerves, and are mostly related to fat metabolism. Treat epilepsy, febrile convulsions, mumps, upper respiratory tract infection, chronic tracheitis, enuresis, urticaria, high serum cholesterol, etc. It is generally used as a substitute for white silkworm.

[Usage and Dosage] Made into tablets, each tablet is 0.3 grams. Adults take 20 to 30 tablets per day, divided into three times.
