The efficacy and function of the golden stick

Jinjinbang is a famous traditional and commonly used Chinese medicinal material in my country with a long history of application. Today we will learn about the Golden Rod.

[Alias] Small five-clawed dragon, golden hammer (Shaanxi Chinese Herbal Medicine).

[Source] It is the tuberous root of Potentilla sericea, a plant of the Rosaceae family. Dig up in autumn and dry in the sun.

[Original form] Perennial herb. The stem is creeping, rooting at the nodes, and covered with soft hairs. Basal leaves are ternate or palmately compound; leaflets are obovate, 1-3 cm long, 0.5-1.2 cm wide, with obtuse serrations on the margins, 1/3 entire near the base, pubescent above, and silky below; petioles are slender and pubescent; stipules are membranous; stem leaves are similar to basal leaves; stipules are small and lanceolate. The flowers are solitary, with slender pedicels 2 to 4 cm long; the flowers are yellow; the calyx is open and 5-lobed; the petals are 5, broad, and longer than the sepals; there are many stamens; and there are many carpels. Achenes are brown with small protrusions.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on hillsides, roadsides, ditch banks or riverside grasslands. Distributed in Henan, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hubei, Gansu and other places.

[Chemical composition] The leaves contain quercetin-3,7-diglucuronide.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet, neutral.

[Functions and indications] It can produce fluid and quench thirst, replenish Yin, eliminate deficiency heat, and treat leucorrhea due to deficiency and fatigue, and asthma due to deficiency.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 2 liang.
