[Source] Medicinal material source: the stems and leaves of Senecio crassifolia of the Asteraceae family.

[Original form] A climbing vine of Senecio crassifolia. Stems reticulate, woody, up to 1 cm in diam., much branched, densely pubescent, later more or less bald. Leaves are alternate; petiole is 3-6cm long; leaf blade is broadly cordate or ovate-cordate, 5-16cm long, 4-14cm wide, cordate at base, pointed or acuminate at tip, with shallow teeth on margin, nearly glabrous above, densely yellow-white hairs below, with palmate veins arcing toward tip, and reticular veinlets hidden in hairs below; upper leaves are small, ovate-lanceolate. Inflorescence capitulate, with short stalks, most arranged in conical corymbose inflorescences at branch ends and leaf axils; inflorescence branches spreading, with ovate to linear bracts; involucre tubular, about 8mm long, 5mm in diameter; involucre 8-9 bracts, linear, pointed at apex, membranous margins, slightly pubescent on the back; all flowers tubular, about 15. Achenes are cylindrical, with longitudinal grooves, up to 3mm long; pappus is white to light yellow, 7-9mm long.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under forests near streams; stems climb trees.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness; promote blood circulation and relieve pain. Mainly used for rheumatic bone pain and traumatic injuries

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g.
