Trifoliate compound leaves are opposite; terminal leaflets are broadly ovate, lateral leaflets are obliquely ovate and smaller, 6-15 cm long, 3.5-8.5 cm wide, 2-3 shallowly lobed, with acute apex, broad cuneate base, irregular coarse teeth on margin, with pointed teeth, covered with white short soft hairs on both sides, especially densely on the underside. The panicles are terminal and axillary, with flowers of polygamous or dioecious; the calyx is tubular, about 1.5 cm long, with 4 sepals, reflexed at the apex, about 2 cm long, blue, covered with white silky hairs, and without petals; there are many stamens, and the filaments are covered with short fine hairs; there are many carpels, which are separated. Achenes ovate, with persistent short pinnate styles. Flowering period is from August to September. The fruiting period is from September to October.
