[Source] Medicinal material source: the roots and root bark of Euonymus japonicus of the Celastraceae family.

[Original form] Euonymus japonicus is an upright or creeping shrub, up to 3m high. Leaves are opposite; petiole 2-8mm long, leaf blade lanceolate or narrow lanceolate, 10-20cm long, 1-3cm wide, acuminate or long acuminate at apex, cuneate or rounded at base, with shallow serrations on margin. The cymes grow on new lateral branches, with 3-7 flowers. The peduncle is thin and weak, 1-1.5cm long, and the pedicel is about 1cm long; the flowers are light pink and 5-8mm in diameter. The capsule is deeply lobed into 4 parts, with only 1-2 chambers usually developing into lobes, which are oval and up to 8 mm long. 1 seed with orange-yellow aril.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in dense forests in valleys and on roadsides on hillsides.

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and regulate menstruation; dispel wind and dampness; reduce swelling and detoxify. Mainly used for bruises and swellings; lumbago; masses; thromboangiitis obliterans; dysmenorrhea; rheumatic pain; hemorrhoids; lacquer sores

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and wash with decoction.
