The soil should be fertile and sunny; it can grow in clay loam, sandy loam or calcareous soil. For propagation by division, when the seedlings from the old plant are about 1 foot high in February, dig out individual plants and transplant them. It is best to transplant after rain. Dig holes 2 to 3 feet square with a row spacing and a hole depth of 4 to 5 inches. Plant one plant in each hole and press tightly after planting. Pay attention to loosening the soil and weeding during the growth period, and apply top dressing once after each weeding. Use 30 to 40 loads of human and animal manure and urine per acre each time. After 3 to 4 years of growth, the rotten old plants should be dug out in early spring to promote the growth of new shoots.

[Chemical composition] The stems and leaves contain volatile oil, the main component of which is L-borneol, and also contain a small amount of cineole, L-camphor, sesquiterpene alcohol, etc. It is also reported that the whole plant shows reactions of flavonoids, coumarins and triterpenoids.
