【Original form】 Evergreen shrub, 0.5-2m high. The twigs are relatively stout, glabrous or sparsely pubescent. Leaves are leathery or thinly leathery; petioles are 1-4mm long, glabrous or with sparse soft hairs; leaf blades are oblong-obovate to shortly cuneate-obovate, 2.5-8cm long, 1-3cm wide, with acute or obtuse apex, cuneate base, and often with a few coarse serrations above the middle. After growth, the glands on the upper side fall off, leaving pits, while the glands on the lower side often do not fall off, and are glabrous or sometimes have sparse soft hairs on the upper midrib; the veins are sunken on the upper side and protruding on the lower side. Dioecious; male inflorescence solitary in leaf axils, erect or tilted upward, 1-1.5cm long; branches extremely shortened and single spike-shaped, each branch with 1-3 male flowers, male flowers without bracts, with 1-3 stamens; female inflorescence base with extremely short and inconspicuous branches, solitary in leaf axils, about 1.5cm long, each branch usually with 2-4 sterile bracts and 2 female flowers, female flowers with 2 bracts, ovary glabrous. The drupe is red, spherical, and about 1-1.5cm in diameter. The flowering period is February-March, and the fruiting period is June-July.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in forest edges and thickets on hillsides at an altitude of 1500-3500m.
