[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the Umbelliferae plant Peucedanum chinense.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 50-130cm tall. The root neck is thick, with residual withered leaf sheath fibers; the root is cylindrical, branched at the bottom, 2-3cm in diameter, and dark brown. The stem has longitudinal stripes, is glabrous, and slightly branched at the top. The basal leaves and leaves at the bottom of the stem have long petioles, and the base of the petioles expands into sheaths; the leaf blade is triangular in outline, three to four times trifoliate, and the terminal segments are linear; the leaves in the middle of the stem are simplified, smaller, and have short petioles; the upper leaves are degenerate, with only lanceolate sheaths. The compound umbels are terminal or axillary, 5-15cm in diameter; the bracts are 3-7, unequal in length; the rays are 15-25, unequal in length, opening during flowering and closing during fruiting; the umbel peduncles are unequal in length; the bracteoles are 5-13; the calyx teeth are triangular; the petals are light yellow, slightly concave at the apex, with an incurved ligule; the style is reflexed downward in fruiting. The fruit is oval, with linear ridges and wing-shaped lateral ridges. There is one oil tube in each groove and two oil tubes on the commissure. The flowering period is July-August, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in mountain thickets and grass slopes at an altitude of 1200-1700m.
