【Original form】 Shrub, 0.3-1m high. Many branches, concentrated in the lower part, with stellate hairs. Leaves are alternate; with short petioles; leaf blades are linear, oblong or lanceolate, 1-2cm long, 2-5mm wide, pointed or obtuse at the apex, gradually narrowed or cuneate at the base, entire, with stellate hairs on both sides, and 1 vein. Flowers are unisexual and monoecious; several male flowers are clustered and integrated into spikes at the branch ends, up to 4 cm long; female flowers are axillary and without perianth; there are 2 bracts, densely covered with stellate hairs, connate into a tube, flattened on both sides, oval in shape, with 2 angular lobes on the upper part, 1/3 of the length of the tube, forked, and 2 bundles of equal long hairs on each side of the outside of the tube during the fruiting period. The utricle is elliptical or obovate, erect and hairy. Seeds and capsules are of the same shape, laterally flattened and erect; embryo horseshoe-shaped. Flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The inflorescence is yellow-white, with tightly arranged male inflorescences on the upper part, several flowers in clusters, and integrated into spike inflorescences at the branch ends. Microscopic identification of powder characteristics: yellow-white. ① Multicellular non-glandular hairs, with double-layered five-pointed star-shaped branches when viewed from the top, and the base of the hairs is claw-shaped. ② There are numerous calcium oxalate clusters with a diameter of 23.5-58.8μm. ③The pollen grains are round and have clear holes. Pollen grains observed under a scanning electron microscope: The pollen grains are round with slightly wavy edges and a diameter of 18.5-21.9μm; there are 28-40 pores on the surface with a pore diameter of 1.59-2.39μm and a distance between pores of 3.10-4.99μm. The ratio of pore diameter to distance between pores is 1:2-2:5. The pores have neat edges and clear boundaries; the pores have membranes with 16-23 small spines distributed in the center, leaving a blank area at the edge of the pore membrane. There are dense small spines on the outer wall of the pollen.
