[Other names] Vajra powder, mountain betel nut, Liangwang tea, Baojingang, Vajra tree, white chicken bone tree, incense stick, orchid, small ox horn orchid

[Source] Medicinal material source: the bark or leaves of the Araliaceae plant.

[Original form] Camellia palmata, shrub, 1-5m high. The stem is gray-brown with sparse lenticels. Leaves are palmately compound, rarely simple; petiole 4-12cm long, petiolules 1-10mm long; leaflets 3-5, rarely 2 or 7, oblong-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, 6-12cm long, 1-2.5cm wide, acuminate to long acuminate at apex, cuneate at base, margin sparsely obtusely serrated or nearly entire; green above, light green below, glabrous on both sides; 6-8 pairs of lateral veins. The panicle is terminal, about 5-18cm long, the umbel is about 2cm in diameter, with more than 10 flowers; the calyx is rowless, about 1mm long, with 5 triangular teeth on the edge; the petals are 5, triangular-ovate, about 1.5mm long, white; the stamens are 5, and the filaments are 2.5-3mm long; the ovary is inferior, 2-chambered, with 2 flowers, fused at the base and free at the apex; the disk is slightly convex. The fruit is nearly spherical, laterally flattened, 2-5mm in diameter, with a persistent column 2.5-3mm long, the tip curved outward, and containing 2 seeds. The flowering period is from September to October, and the fruiting period is from December to January of the following year.

【Habitat distribution】Ecological environment: Growing in forests or bushes at an altitude of 1000-2500m

【Properties】 Characteristic identification, mostly chopped branches and leaves. The branches are cylindrical and the outer surface is gray-brown. The petiole is visible, 4-10cm long; the complete one is lanceolate, 4-11cm long, 1cm wide, with acuminate tip, cuneate base, sharp and sparse serrations on the edge, dark and shiny on the surface. The leaves are leathery. Slight smell, sweet, slightly bitter, cool taste.
