[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of Dryopsis bicolor, a plant of the Dryopsis family.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 30-50cm. The rhizome is erect, and together with the base of the petiole, is densely covered with dark brown, narrowly lanceolate scales. Leaves are clustered; petiole 15-25cm long, dark straw color, with sparsely smaller scales upward to the rachis and below the pinnae, the scales are bicolor, brown at the base, black or dark brown above, awl-lanceolate, and broadly rounded at the base; leaf blade is thick papery, ovate-lanceolate, 15-25cm long, 10-15cm wide, acuminate at the apex, nearly rounded at the base, and pinnate-lobed three times; pinnae 8-12 pairs, alternate, with short petioles, triangular-lanceolate, 7-8cm long at the base, 3-5cm wide, acuminate at the apex, rounded cuneate at the base, and pinnate-lobed twice; pinnae of the base pinnae are lanceolate, the largest one on the lower side of the base, up to 3cm long, pinnate-lobed, and the rest gradually shorten upward; lobes are narrowly oblong, obtuse at the apex, entire or wavy; lateral veins are pinnate-forked. The sporangium is dorsal to the small vein near the tip; the sori is round and kidney-shaped, brown, with thin edges and often reflexed upwards.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under valley forests or beside streams at an altitude of 600-1400m.
