[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Eryuan Platycodon grandiflorum, a plant of the Caryophyllaceae family.

【Original morphology】 Stem height 30-40cm. Yellow, with fine ridges, glabrous or pubescent beneath, densely glandular pubescent above. The leaves at the lower part of the stem are spoon-shaped, 3-5cm long, 0.4-1.1cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base to form a long petiole, with short tricholoma on the margin and a raised midrib; the leaves at the upper part of the stem are lanceolate, 2-5cm long, 2-8mm wide, obtuse or pointed at the apex, cuneate at the base and a raised midrib. Cymes, with a few to many flowers; bracts lanceolate, 0.5-1cm long, densely glandular hairs; pedicels densely glandular hairs; calyx narrow bell-shaped, 0.8-1cm long, densely glandular hairs, calyx teeth lanceolate-triangular, obtuse at the apex, ciliate at the margin, 10 calyx veins, fused at the apex; petals purple, extending out of the calyx, 4-lobed at the apex, lobes narrow and short, scales elliptic, ears rounded; stamens shorter than petals, anthers yellow; ovary elliptic, styles 3, short linear.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in bushes on hillsides at an altitude of about 2900m.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and relieves pain. Mainly used for cold, fever, cough, and trauma
