[Source] Medicinal material source: The bark of Betula australis of the Betulaceae family.

[Original form] Tree, up to 25m high. The bark is gray-brown and cracked. Bud scales margins hairy. Branchlets glabrous. The petiole is 0.8-2.5cm long; the leaves are thick and papery, elliptic-ovate, elliptic or ovate, 5-12cm long and 2-6cm wide, with pointed or acuminate apex, rounded or nearly cordate base, covered with silky hairs along the veins below, with resin spots or none between the reticulate veins, 12-14 pairs of lateral veins, with clusters of whiskers in the vein axils, the midrib and lateral veins are slightly concave above, with double serrations and blunt tips, with 1-4 small teeth between each pair of lateral veins, the infructescence is solitary, cylindrical, 3-5cm long, the infructescence petiole is about 5mm long and covered with long coarse hairs; the fruit bract is 3-lobed, 0.8-1cm long, the middle lobe is slightly longer than the lateral lobe, the lobes are obtuse and have whiskers; the nutlets are obovate, 4-5mm long and about 2mm wide, and the fruit wings are narrow, about 1/2 of the fruit width. The flowering period is June-July, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in mixed woods on mountain tops or hillsides at an altitude of 1000-1800m.

【Functions and indications】Diuresis and diuresis; clearing away heat and detoxifying. Mainly for stranguria; edema; sore

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
